Upcoming Board Elections

To:  All Members of Unity Church of Austin
 
During our annual meeting in March 2008, we will be electing individuals to fill three positions on our Board of Trustees.  Carol Moncado will be finishing her first 3-year term and has chosen not to run for re-election. Kathryn Samec is finishing her first term of 3 years and will run for re-election. Kevin Loop was appointed to fill a term of a resigned Board Member but would like to run for his first elective term this year.
 
We need your nominations for candidates for these positions, as well.
 
Qualifications for Board of Trustees
 
Section 4.04 Board of Trustees—Election.

(a) Qualifications.
Any person elected to the Board of Trustees must be a voting member of Unity Church of Austin.  He/she will be a person who:

1. Desires to serve on the Board.
2. Endeavors to live in accord with the Jesus Christ principles of love and truth as taught by Unity.
3. Furthers the work of this ministry through his/her active attendance at Sunday services, classes and workshops, through his/her love, service and tithing.
4. Is a sincere and continuing student of Unity, conversant with its teachings as exhibited by attendance at classes, workshops and services.
5. Has demonstrated leadership capabilities.
6. Be a qualified voting member (see section 3.03(a)(1) and agree to carry out the duties of Trustee as stated in section 4.03(c) of these bylaws.



Members of Unity Church elected to the board of Directors must be people of integrity who attend regularly, promote the activities and programs of the church among members as well as in the larger community. An ideal board member is one who believes in the spiritual community of the church and works toward unity, harmony and acceptance among its membership.  Board members commit to support the minister and assist in promoting spiritual awareness of the membership.
 
A Board member of Unity Church of Austin must have a strongly developed prayer consciousness and a proven reliance on God.  Every board member should tithe and give consistently to financial programs of the ministry in the willingness to prove the abundance of God and the importance of giving.
 
Every board member must be willing to devote the time necessary to learn appropriate duties and accomplish the tasks necessary to be an effective member of the leadership.
