WHO: a Unity Church of Austin group, welcoming women of all ages and stages who are not only official members of the church or “regular attendees” but also welcoming women who are new to Unity, who are seasonal attendees or who simply call the Unity Church of Austin their “spiritual home.”
WHAT: Our vision is that this group will be a nurturing place where adult women of all ages and stages, who lead busy active lives with multitudes of roles and responsibilities, can engage in prayer, study, fellowship and laughter while safely sharing their spiritual journeys. Women can share beliefs, opinions, and ideas in a non-judgmental setting and leave the evening refreshed, refilled, inspired and ready to re-enter “: the marketplace” of our daily lives. Each meeting will reserve time for fellowship, study and prayer. The program will allow room for dialogue and discussion.
HOW: Leadership will be shared and members, if they chose, can take turns facilitating the monthly study/discussion. Taking a turn will be optional and certainly not required. Some may chose to “team-lead” and programs will vary…. but will be spiritually based. We welcome study material and presentations by leaders from magazines (such as the Unity Magazine or Spirituality and Health) books, DVD’s, music, movement (such as NIA) or concepts that can be presented for discussion (such as the power of prayer, forgiveness, finding balance in body, mind and Soul) If preparation is encouraged (such as reading a short chapter in a book) members will be given the material in advance, when possible.
WHEN: This Women’s Group meets on the “fourth Thursday” of the month, recognizing that in November or December a special date will be chosen for a holiday meeting. The meeting will be scheduled for 7-8:30 PM, with the first 15 minutes being a time for refreshments and socializing.
WHERE: The group will meet in the church (5501 W. Highway 290, Austin, TX 78735 (512) 892-3000 but may chose to plan some meetings in the homes of members, as long as the location is handicapped accessible.
COMMUNICATION-PR: Information about the monthly group meetings will be published, when possible, in the Unity Church of Austin quarterly calendar, Sunday Bulletins, the church web site, pulpit announcements, and outreach letters, E-MAILS and phone calls to potential members from the congregation of members and visitors.
FEE-There will be no fee for belonging, nor “love offerings’ sought, but recognizing that the church space (including air conditioning, heating, etc.) and resources for communication (including web site charges, ink paper and postage) are being shared we would encourage members to contribute to the church budget when possible.
